Index | After Russia

Our album is based on the poems of the unnoticed generation — an attempt to compare their fates to our own. It begins and ends with a tribute to Georgy Ivanov, one of the greatest poets of Russian emigration.

The unnoticed generation are the writers and poets who began writing in exile but never found their readers back home.

The symbolic culmination of the First Wave of Russian emigration was the deportation of significant intellectuals in the fall and winter of 1922/23 (a century ago), which was later referred to as the Philosophy steamer.

The album’s title, After Russia, refers to Marina Tsvetaeva’s collection of émigré poems, published in Paris in 1928.
